0

Ever since the movie Avatar came out people have been talking about 3d TV. A TV that is 3D ready can be viewed in both 2D and 3D. In order view 3D TV you must use a pair of LCD shutter glasses. The shutter glasses interact with the 3D ready TV creating a stereoscopic image.

Most 3D ready TVs have a minimum refresh rate of 120Hz and support HDMI 1.4. As of January of this year Major electronics makers such as Samsung and Mitsubishi have released the first 3D ready TV sets utilizing Texas Instruments, DLP technology. In February of this year the Samsung 3D ready tv, model # UN55C7000 was released to the public.

Currently the entertainment industry is working on creating a common compatible standard for all 3D home electronics. Some of the inconsistencies being worked on involve frame 3D glasses, frame rate, bandwidth, recording formats and blu-ray compatibility. In April of this year Comcast and DirectTV will air the Masters Tournament in 3D.
