Camping With Your Kids
Different families have their own methods of spending time with one another but the most plain, cheap, but fun way of doing it is by going camping. Whether it is a group of friends, co-workers, and families, camping is an activity where they can value nature while learning about solidarity, basic survival, and most importantly, bonding with one another. The need to get away from it all is a strong factor to motivate grown-ups who wish to forget about the stresses of work or kids wanting to have some recreational fun and away from school studies.
Prior to embarking on a camping trip with your kids, choosing the right camping equipments and choosing the fitting camp location are simple but valuable factors. Campgrounds differ in a lot of ways. There are encampments where people can be by themselves and some are meant for people to camp with others. Some are safe while some can present some dangers. Other than this, it is also important to consider other peoples preferences, particularly from kids.
Family camping will require additional camping equipment than that of one or two person camping and the type and size of tents that will be used is also an important factor. A family of four would either need two medium sized tents or a large one that will provide them spaciousness along with their camping equipments.
Up to six to eight family member could be housed in a family camping tent but getting cramped together in one tent is not always thought as something convenient. The popularity of tents with dividers are evident to families because these offer each person their privacy. Parents would have a feeling of security for their kids by being together in one tent while enjoying their privacy and the dividers can be removed anytime by one zip.
Additional camping equipments and supplies are essential to have a good camping experience. Listing essential camping nooks and crannies is the best way not to forget. To be more organized, grouping them in categories like gears, cash, foods, medical, utensils, entertainment, etc. will reduce the chance of forgetting each one. Among these categories, however, food, cash, gears and medicine are the most important.
Food and cash are pretty straigforward but gears and first-aid kits should be given with methodical thinking. Gears include tents, sleeping bags, hiking shoes, etc. Medicines include iodine, flu medicines, ointments, alcohol, and bandages, gauzes and cotton.
It is also important to consider the foods that kids would eat as these will be their only source of nutrition in the outdoors. Some foods that are common at home may not be adequate in camp. One example is cereals where they usually need milk to be more tastier and nutritious. If the planned camping will last for several days, it would not be a good idea to bring foods that are bound to spoil without refrigeration. Milk and other dairy products fall under these and unless your kids do not mind eating cereals out of the box, it is best to leave cereals and dairies at home. Foods that are suitable in outdoor camping are canned goods, marshmallows, burgers and hotdogs.
Rain during camping is not exactly considered a fun camping experience. A gloomy and wet weather in a camping trip will let everybodys spirit down, especially kids. Bringing along some backups will help them pass the time until the rain stops. Books, board games, audio players and other toys and gadgets are the type of backups kids will enjoy.
